The email message below: "Your Apple ID,was used to restore a device from one of your iCloud backups," is a phishing scam sent by cyber-criminals. The Apple Phishing Email Message

Dear Apple Customer,

Your Apple ID,was used to restore a device from one of your iCloud backups.

Device:Timy’s iPhone (iPhone 4s)

If you recently restored this device, you can disregard this email.

If you have not restored a device recently or you believe someone may have accessed your account,we recommend to visit the link below to reset your password and verify that you are the legitimate account holder.

Although, the email message appears as if it came from Apple, it was not. So, ensure that you never click on a link in an email message to sign into your Apple account.

Clicking on the link in this email message will take the recipient to the fake or phishing Apple websites below:

  • http://app-new.recovery-itunes -icloud-applenew-details-apple.home -apple.vanaddre.com
  • http://www.apple.id.newapple .mobi/

This website will ask the potential victim to sign in with his/her Apple account user id, password, enter personal and financial information. Now, if the potential victim enters and submit the requested information, it will be sent to the scammers or cybercriminals behind the phishing scam. With the information that they have collected, the cybercriminals will be able to gain access to victim's account and use it frauduently. They will also steal victim's money using the financial information that they have collected from him/her.

Victims who were tricked by the phishing email, should change their Apple passwords immediately.

There are hundreds of these phishing or fake websites on the internet designed to steal Apple users’ account, personal and financial information. The website above is just one of the many.

So, please ensure that you are on www.apple.com website by looking at your web browser address bar, instead of some fake website designed to trick you into disclosing your account information.
