"Dance of the Pope" Mobile Phone Virus Hoax

Facebook, Twitter and other social networking websites have been flooded with the message below, which claims that there is a virus called "Dance of the Pope." The message claims that you should not accept a video called the "Dance of the Pope" because it is a very dangerous virus that will format your mobile device or wipe clean all the data on it. But, after doing some research, we found that the virus DOES NOT exist and it is only a hoax; seem to have been created by pranksters who have nothing to do but to scare people.

The Fake "Dance of the Pope" Virus Message

“URGENT: Tell all contacts from your list not to accept a video called the dance of the Pope. It is a virus that formats your mobile. Beware it is very dangerous. They announced it today on the radio. Pass on to as many as you can. It was announced on the radio in USA.”

“Hello All, i received this URGENT warning- To NOT accept a video called the dance of the Pope. It is a virus that formats your mobile. Beware is very dangerous. You have fun with your list already; people open it thinking that it is a joke. They are spreading it today on the radio. Pass it on to those who can”

No news agency and antivirus software company have heard about the "Dance of the Pope" virus. Remember, it is important that you research social networking message before sharing it with your friends and family. Always check with the popular or reputable news websites to verify the authenticity of a message before sharing, especially one that talks about a serious threat.
