Scam - "American Express Security Notification - Confirmation of Your Phone Number Update"

The email message below: "American Express Security Notification," is a phishing scam and was NOT sent by American Express. The fake email message was designed to trick the recipients into clicking on a link within it that will take them to a fake American Express website, which will ask them to submit a form requesting their credit card numbers, social security numbers, names, addresses and other sensitive information.

If the requested information is submitted, it will be sent to the scammers behind the scam, who will use it to gain access to their victims' online accounts, which they will use fraudulently, and steal their identities and money.

Dear Card Member,
We're writing to you because we recently received a request to change the phone number on the account referenced above through americanexpress.com. For your security, we are confirming that you made this request.
If you did not request to change the phone number on this account You can review your updated phone number at [Link to fake website]
If you requested this change, you don't have to take any action. Kindly Ignore this message.
Thank you for your Card membership.
American Express Customer Service
If you were tricked into entering the requested information on the fake American Express website, please change your password immediately and report it to your bank and the police.
Now, if you are unable to change your password please contact American Express or your bank immediately.
