Beware of "Account SSL Security Update Is Required Urgently" Kiwibank Phishing Scam

The email message below with the subject: "Account SSL Security Update Is Required Urgently," is a Kiwibank Limited phishing scam. The email message was not sent by Kiwibank Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the state-owned enterprise New Zealand Post Limited. The message was instead sent by cyber-criminals to trick potential victims into clicking on the link within the email message, which will take them to a phishing / fake Kiwibank website. The phishing website looks exactly like the Kiwibank’s website, which will trick a lot of Kiwibank’s customers, who have received the fake email message, into entering their usernames and passwords on it. Once the victims have entered their Kiwibank’s online account credentials (usernames and passwords) on the fake website, it will be sent to the cyber-criminals, who will use it to gain access their accounts, and use the accounts fraudulently.

The email message below with the subject: "Account SSL Security Update Is Required Urgently," is a Kiwibank Limited phishing scam. Kiwibank’s customers, who were tricked into entering their account credentials (username and password) on the fake or phishing website, should attempt to change their passwords, and contact Kiwibank immediately.

It is important to remember never to click on a link to sign into your online accounts. Always go directly to your online account providers’ websites by, typing the website address or name in your web browser, or using a popular Search Engine to locate the website. This simple method is the best and most effective way of preventing phishing scams.
