Beware of "Please Read Message From Suntrust" Phishing Scam

The email message below with the subject: "Please Read: Message From Suntrust," is a phishing scam. The email message was not sent by SunTrust Banks, Inc, an American bank holding company. The message was instead sent by cyber-criminals to trick potential victims into clicking on the link within the email message, which will take them to a phishing / fake Suntrust website. The phishing website looks exactly like the Suntrust’s website, which will trick a lot of Suntrust’s customers, who have received the fake email message, into entering their usernames and passwords on it. Once the victims have entered their Suntrust’s online account credentials (usernames and passwords) on the fake website, it will be sent to the cyber-criminals, who will use it to gain access their accounts, and use the accounts fraudulently.

We noticed many attempts to Sign On your account. Due to our security system you need to verify your details with us.

Please, SIGN ON and provide your details correctly.

Sincerely,

SUN TRUST

Suntrust’s customers, who were tricked into entering their account credentials (username and password) on the fake or phishing website, should attempt to change their passwords, and contact Suntrust immediately.

It is important to remember never to click on a link to sign into your online accounts. Always go directly to your online account providers’ websites by, typing the website address or name in your web browser, or using a popular Search Engine to locate the website. This method is the best and most effective way of preventing phishing scams.
