"Chase Important Notice Regarding Online Banking" Fraudulent Email Message
Today, someone submitted a Chase Online fraudulent e-mail message with the subject "Important Notice Regarding Online Banking" to us that was sent to their e-mail address. The e-mail message claims that Chase(SM) will be implementing enhancements to its online and mobile platforms and wants the victim to download an attached HTML document (web page).
The "Chase Important Notice Regarding Online Banking" Fraudulent Email
DO NOT download the e-mail file attachment with the name "Chase(SM) Alert ACTION REQUIRED, Notice for your Account.zip" and DO NOT follow the instructions in the e-mail message.
Note: The name of the file attachment may change and your bank will never ask you to download a HTML Web Page.
The attached file is a web page that contains only JavaScript code (World Wide Web scripting language used to create dynamic web pages) and displays the web page form below.
The form contains the following fields: banking username, password, credit card number, ATM pin, Driver's license number, email address, email address password and other information that can be used to rip-off the victim.
If the web page form is completed and submitted, the victim's information will be sent to this website: grooveheads.co.uk and not to Chase Online.
DO NOT complete the web page form, delete the e-mail if you receive it and warn your family and friends about this scam. If you have already submitted your information, please contact Chase to have your credit card canceled and change your Chase online password immediately.
Never click on a link to sign into your Chase Online account, always go directly to https://www.chase.com/ and sign-in from there. Once you are signed in, you may view transactions, update your information, or view important notifications if there are any.
