"Shaggy is Dead" - Celebrity Death Hoax

Reggae singer Shaggy (Orville Richard Burrell) death hoax is spreading on popular social networking website Twitter like wildfire with the hash tag #RIPShaggy. The singer is alive and was not stabbed to death in a bar fight. Shaggy is known for his popular singles "Bombastic’" and "It Wasn't Me".

Even the Wikipedia page of Shaggy was updated with bogus information on the bar fight and the singer's subsequent death.

Here are some of the tweets from Twitter.com about Shaggy' death:

  • “I don't want to brag . . . but I think this video killed Shaggy! “
  • “Ugh... Just realized I'll never see or ride in the Shag Wagon again..”
  • “My hood is like a family my heart felt the pain RIP shaggy”

Do not use popular social networking websites Facebook.com, Twitter.com and others for your news sources.

Over the past few months a few celebrity death hoaxes have been reported on these websites.

If any news is posted on these social networking websites, please check with one of the popular news websites before tweeting and sharing with your friends.

I guess if you ask Shaggy if he was stabbed in a bar fight, he would say "It Wasn’t Me."
