"American Express Unusual or Irregular Activity" Phishing Scams
The email messages below, which claim that irregular or unusual activities have been detected on your American Express account, are phishing scams. The emails were not sent from American Express and are only scams designed to trick the recipients into clicking on a malicious link within them that goes to a fake American Express website.

We detected irregular activity on your American Express.
Check Card on 9th August, 2013.
As the Primary Contact, you must verify your account activity before you can continue using your card, and upon verification, we will remove any restrictions placed on your account.
To review your account as soon as possible please.
Please click on the link below to verify your information with us:
http://www.yanyitang.com/www.americanexpress.com.html
If you account information is not updated within 48 hours then your ability to access your account will be restricted.
We appreciate your prompt attention to this important matter.

Clicking on the link in these email messages will take you to fake American Express website that will ask you to sign-in with your userID and password. If you enter your American Express userID and password on this fake website, it will be sent to the scammers behind these fake email messages. With your username and password, these scammers will be able to gain access to your account.
If you were tricked into clicking on the link in these fake email messages and entered your userID and password on the fake websites that you were taken to, please change your American Express password immediately or contact American Express.
And, if you receive any email notifications regarding American Express, please do not click on any of the links in the email message, instead, go to their website at https://www.americanexpress.com/ and sign into your account.
