"PayPal Your Account Access Has Been Limited" Phishing Email Scams

The PayPal email messages with the subject "Your account access has been limited" below are phishing scams. These email messages were not sent by PayPal and you should not click on the links or follow the instructions in them. Never click on a link in an email message to enter your username, password, credit card or any other sensitive information. This is because, scammers can set up bogus websites to impersonate legitimate ones, which they will use to steal their victims' information.

PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening the accounts in our system. We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information to help us provide you with secure service.Until we can collect this information, your access to sensitive account features will be limited. We would like to restore your access as soon as possible, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):
We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party. We have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features in case your account has been accessed by an unauthorized third party. If you click on the link in one of these email messages you will be sent to fake PayPal website, which will ask you to enter your PayPal username and password. Once you have entered your PayPal sign-in information, you will then be asked to enter your personal and credit card information. All this information that was entered will be sent to the scammers behind these bogus email messages.

PayPal will always address you by your name when they send email messages to you. They will never ask for your bank account number, debit card information, credit card information, driver’s license, email addresses, full name, account password, or the answers to your PayPal security questions.

If you have already clicked on the link in the email message and have entered your credit card information on the bogus website, please contact your bank. Also, change your PayPal password immediately and check your PayPal account thoroughly to determine if money was taken from it or it was used to carry out any illegal activities.
