This collecting of email addresses is called Email Harvesting.  Email harvesting is the process of obtaining email addresses using various collecting methods.

If you follow the instructions in this email message and send this same message to other persons' email addresses, the spammers behind this hoax will be able to collect these persons' email addresses when you send a carbon copy (CC) to the email address brenarie@lantic.net.
