The White House Hacked, Allegedly By The Russians

The White House’s unclassified Executive Office of the President network was hacked this month. This cyber-attack has been confirmed by the White House, which claims that their computers and systems have not been damaged, but some elements of the unclassified network have been affected. They also claim that there is no evidence that the classified network was breached.

The cyber-attack caused a temporary disruption of internet and other services for some White House staffers, while the White House security team worked to control the cyber security breach.

According to the Washington Post, a White House official said the following:

"In the course of assessing recent threats, we identified activity of concern on the unclassified Executive Office of the President network.
We took immediate measures to evaluate and mitigate the activity... Unfortunately, some of that resulted in the disruption of regular services to users. But people were on it and are dealing with it."

Some persons are claiming that Russian hackers, allegedly working for the Russian government, may be responsible for the cyber-attack on the White House. These are the hackers who spied on NATO and the Ukrainian government by exploiting a flaw in the Microsoft’s Windows operating system.

The FBI, Secret Service and National Security Agency are currently investigating the cyber-attack on the White House. For more information about the cyber-attack on the White House, please click here.
