"Your Mailbox is Almost Full" Phishing Email Scams
The email message below: "Your mailbox is almost full," is fake and a phishing scam. The email message was sent by cyber-criminals and not by Google or other legitimate email providers, to trick the recipients into clicking on the link within it in order to take them to a fake or phishing website designed to steal their email address username and password, which they (cyber-criminals) will use to hijack their accounts.

The email message claims that the recipient's mailbox is full and they need to click on a link in order to reduce the size of the mailbox by deleting items they don't need and emptying the "Deleted" items folder. But, clicking on the link in the email message, will only take you to a fake or phishing website that will ask you to sign-in with your email username and password.
If you enter the requested information, it will be sent to the cybercriminals behind the scam. Once they have your email account credentials, they use it to hijack your account and use it for fraudulent purposes. This includes using your email address to send spam or malicious email messages.
If you have already followed the instructions in the email message and have entered your email account user name and password on the fake website, please change your email account's password immediately.
To avoid getting tricked by these phishing scams, never click on a link in an email message to sign into your account. Always go to your email account sign-in page and sign into your account from there.
