The Facebook post: "We are giving 50 Iphones On February 12, 2014" below is a fake. This bogus giveaway located on a fake Vin Diesel Facebook page, claims that Vin Diesel will be giving away 50 IPhones and Facebook users should "like", comment on and share the Facebook post, if they want to stand a chance of winning one of the phones.

The Fake Vin Diesel Facebook Page

This fake Vin Diesel Facebook page is located at:
http://www.facebook.com/pages /%EB%B4%84-Vin-Diesel/182324781969730

While the legitimate Vin Diesel Facebook page is located at:
http://www.facebook.com/VinDiesel

The difference between the legitimate and the fake Vin Diesel Facebook pages is the name. The fake one has a Japanese or Chinese symbol before the name “Vin Diesel”. Please see the images above.

They also added a blue tick mark on the fake page's profile image of Vin Diesel, to trick Facebook users into thinking that the page is legitimate. The blue tick mark is used by Facebook to verify that a page is legitimate.

But, Facebook doesn’t place the blue tick mark on the profile image; they instead, place it to the right of the page name.

If you move your mouse over this blue tick mark, it will display the message: “Page verified”.

The aim of the scammers behind this promotion is to get as many Facebook users as possible to “like”, comment on, and share this fake Vin Diesel Facebook web page.

By liking, commenting on, or sharing the Facebook post, you are only helping to spread it to other Facebook users and making the scammers responsible for this, earn money.

Scammers earn money when they make a page popular and are able to sell it to the highest bidder, along with the names and other public information of the persons who liked, commented on, or shared the web page.

If you have already "liked", commented on, or shared this page, please "unlike" it, delete your comment, or remove the shared post. This will help prevent this scam from spreading to other Facebook users.

Also, you may help Facebook remove this fake Vin Diesel Facebook page by reporting it to them.
