E-Alert from Barclays - Online Banking Account Phishing Scam
The email message below is a phishing scam. The email message was not sent by Barclays, but by cybercriminals, whose aim is to trick some Barclays’ customers into clicking on the phishing link in the fake email message below.

Subject: E-Alert from Barclays
Dear Valued Customer,
We detected irregular activity on your Barclays Online Banking Account.
For your protection, you must verify this activity before you can continue using your Online Banking.
Follow the reference below, fill out the information required to review your account and press continue. We will review the activity on your account with you and upon verification, We will remove any restrictions placed on your account.

The link in the email message goes to a fake or phishing Barclay website, which will ask the persons who clicked the link, to enter their Barclays’ username, password, credit, personal information and other security information, needed to hijack the victims’ accounts.
If these persons enter the information requested, it will be sent to the scammers behind this fake email and phishing website.
With this information, these scammers will be able to gain access to their victims' accounts, sell this information to the highest bidder and further scam the victims.in this case, these persons can end up being victims of identity theft and credit card fraud.
If you unknowingly clicked on the link in the email message, please change your Royal Bank of Scotland password immediately and contact them.
Never click on a link in an email message or anywhere else to login or sign into your online accounts. Always go directly to the website by typing the name of the website into your web browser's address bar.
