Phishing Scam - Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Notification of Tax Refund 2014

The email message below: "Notification of Tax Refund 2014," is a phishing scam. The email message was not sent by the IRS and was designed to trick the recipients into clicking on a link within it, which will take them a fake Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website (www.irs-tax.us .pn). On the fake website, the recipients will be asked to enter their personal and financial information.

If the recipients submit their information on the fake Internal Revenue Service website (irs-tax.us .pn), it will be sent to the scammers behind this email scam, who may use it to steal their identities or use it for other malicious purposes.

It is tax return time and scammers have started sending out thousands of fake IRS tax return email messages, so please beware of email messages that ask you to click on a link or open an attachment. If you receive any email message which ask you to do the same, please go to the agency’s website and contact them via the contact email address or telephone number listed on the website, before clicking on any links, opening any attachments or following any instructions in the email message that you have received.
