Yahoo Phishing Scam - "Urgent Issue - Your Email Needs an Immediate Security Update"

The email message below: "Urgent Issue - Your Email Needs an Immediate Security Update," is a phishing scam. The email message was not sent by Yahoo.instead, it was sent by cyber-criminals, so do not follow the instructions or click on the links within it. The links in the fake email message will take you to a fake Yahoo Mail website designed to trick you into stealing your Yahoo user name and password.

The links in the email message will take you to a fake Yahoo sign-in or login page, and if you enter your credentials ( username and password) on the same website, it will be sent to the cyber-criminals behind this phishing scam. Who will use it to hijack your Yahoo account and use it for malicious purposes.

If you were tricked into clicking the link in the fake email message and have entered your phone number, and username and password for your Yahoo account on the fake Yahoo Mail website that you were taken to, please change your Yahoo password immediately.

Every month, thousands of these email messages are sent out by scammers to trick their Yahoo potential victims into stealing their username, password, financial or personal information. So, if you receive email messages like the one above, please do not click on the links within them, instead, go to www.yahoo.com and sign into your account from there.

If there is a problem with your account, Yahoo will notify you about the problem after you have signed in.
