Phishing Scam - Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) Dog License Renewal
Scammers are sending out the fake Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) email message below, claiming that the recipients dog licenses are up for renewal and the recipients should renew and make payments via a website address or URL. The AVA said that the Singapore Police Force is investigating the scam and advises recipients of the fake email message or letter, not to follow instructions in it, and should instead, report it to the police.
The website address or URL in the fake email message will take recipients, who have clicked on it, to a PayPal account with the name: “Payment For Dog Licence - ava.gov.sg” that is associated with the email address: singov.ava@groupmail.com”. Both the PayPal account and the email address were created by the cyber-criminals responsible for the scam.

1 Please refer to the license number(xxxxxxx) for your MIXED BREED.
2 We wish to inform you that your dog licence will expire in a few weeks’ time.
3 Please renew your license by making the payment of $90 within 5 (five) working days from the date of this letter. If payment is not made by 14 September 2015, we would have to institute court proceedings against you for which a fine of up to $5000 can be imposed by the court.
4 Payment Method Options included Below:
i. Online/Mobile Payment. You can now renew your dog license on mobile or online via our Paypal payment gateway at:
http://bit. do/signov-ava
ii.nets Payment. Payment can also be made by NETS at any AXS machine or at our Customer Service Center located at 52 Jurong Gateway Road.
