PCKeeper Live and MacKeeper So-Called Optimization and Clean-up Software
Internet or online users are advised not to install MacKeeper and PCKeeper software from so-called computer optimization or cleanup websites: "mackeeper.com" and "pckeeper.software." Both websites use deceptive advertisements, especially pop-ups, to display messages to internet users that claim their computers could be at risk of getting infected with viruses, spyware, and other malware, and they need to download and install software to repair, clean and protect their computers. But, internet users who click on the deceptive advertisements, and who install software from the "MacKeeper" or "PCKeeper Live" website, will ironically run the risk of their computers getting infected with spyware or other malware. Also, there is a similar unwanted software called PCKeeper Antivirus that we do not recommend installing.
Both “MacKeeper” or “PCKeeper Live” software contain unwanted programs called “Potentially Unwanted Program” or “PUP” that will display annoying popups, download spyware, or redirect internet users to fake and phishing websites that will steal their personal and financial information.

It is important that internet users know that their web browsers cannot detect viruses, spyware or malware threats. Therefore, if they are browsing the internet and a web browser pop-up message appears, claiming that their computers are at risk of getting infected with viruses, spyware or malware, and asks them to install software from untrustworthy websites in order to fix the problem, they should ignore the message. Some of the deceptive pop-up messages will deceitfully state that viruses, spyware, and other malware were detected on the internet users’ computers.
Internet users using Microsoft Windows, who have already installed “PCKeeper” may remove it by, uninstalling the software called “FreeFixer,” “PCKeeper Live” or “PCKeeper Antivirus” using the “Add/Remove Program” or “Uninstall a program” in the Control Panel. And, they should click here to use a program called AdwCleaner to remove any malware that was installed as a result of installing “PCKeeper Live.”

Also, internet users using Microsoft Windows should never open or installed the PCKeeper software called: “PCKeeper Installer.exe.” For MAC users, they shouldn’t open or install the software: MacKeeper.3.9.1.dmg”
