"A DGTFX Virus Has Been Detected In Your Folders" Fake Microsoft Email Message
The email message with the subject: "Account Alert! Client Id: 2892774," which claims the recipients’ Microsoft Hotmail, Live or Outlook email accounts have been infected with the DGTFX virus and they need to verify and update their accounts in order to prevent damages, is a phishing scam. The phishing scam is being used by cybercriminals to frighten recipients into sending them their personal information and email account credentials. Once the cybercriminals receive their potential victims’ information, they will use it to gain access to their victims’ email accounts and use them fraudulently. Therefore, recipients of the phishing or fake email message who were tricked into following the instructions in it, should change their Microsoft account passwords immediately, before their accounts are hijacked and used fraudulently by cybercriminals.
