"Your Mail Quota Has Reached 98-GB Limit" Phishing Scam
Scammers are using the fake message below to trick the recipients into sending them their email accounts’ username and password. The fake message, which claims that the recipients’ mail quota has reached the 98 GB limit and will be prevented from sending or receiving messages until the email accounts have been re-validated, was not sent by the company listed in it. The company name is used to help convince recipients into thinking the fake email message is genuine.
Also, online users should never send their passwords to anyone. A legitimate company will never ask their customers or users to send them their passwords. Therefore, online users who received email, social media, or text messages requesting their passwords, should delete the messages.
The email message below is just one of the many tricks used by scammers to steal their potential victims’ email account credentials. Once the scammers have gotten their potential victims’ account credentials, they will hijack the email accounts and use them fraudulently. Therefore, persons who have already followed the instructions in the fake email messages, should change their password immediately.
