"WhatsApp Will Start Charging and Deleting Inactive Accounts" Fake Messages or Hoaxes

WhatsApp users, beware of fake messages(see below) claiming that WhatsApp will no longer be free and they are deleting accounts because their servers are congested and they need to remove inactive users in order to make space. The fake messages claim that WhatApps will start charging unless the users post the same fake messages to 10 or more WhatsApp users in order to tell WhatsApp that their accounts are active. But, this is far from the truth. WhatsApp will not start charging its users, and WhatsApp is not deactivating or deleting so-called invalid accounts. Therefore, recipients of the fake messages claiming that WhatsApp will no longer be free, and will start charging, should delete them. Also, WhatsApp users should not follow the instructions in the same fake messages.

This is not the first hoax that claims that WhatsApp will start charging a fee for their services. I have seen many other similar hoaxes created by pranksters over the years, to freighten WhatsApp users into sending the same hoaxes to other WhatsApp users, for no reason at all. Maybe tricking people into believing such hoaxes gives the pranksters some adrenalin rush, or they just do it for bragging rights. I guess we will never be able to tell.

Some of the Fake WhatsApp Messages

WhatsApp is going to cost us money soon. The only way that it will stay free is if you are a frequent user i.e. you have at least 10 people you are chatting with. To become a frequent user send this message to 10 people who receive it (2 ticks) and your WhatsApp logo should turn blue
