"Bank Of America Alert Online Access Suspension Message" Phishing Scams

The email message below with the subject: "Bank Of America Alert: Online Access Suspension Message," is a phishing scam disguised as a Bank of America alert. This is why Bank of America customers are advised not click on a link in an email message to sign into their online accounts, because cybercriminals are using fake email messages like the one below to trick them into visiting phishing websites that steal banking credentials, personal and financial information. It is recommended that Bank of America go directly to www.bankofamerica.com and sign into their accounts, and once they have signed in, they will be shown important notifications or alerts. Doing this, will prevent them from clicking on links in fake email messages that go to phishing websites, which will prevent cybercriminals from stealing their information and gaining access to their accounts.

Also, Bank of America will never send their customers an email message requesting banking credentials, personal and financial information. And, they will never send an email message with an attached form requesting the same sensitive information. Therefore, Bank of America customers who have received similar email messages are asked to delete them, and should always go to www.bankofamerica.com to sign into their accounts in order not to become a victim of phishing scams.

For an extra layer of security, it is recommended that Bank of America customers turn on SafePass. Click here to learn more about SafePass.

Remember, there is "SMShing," which is like phishing but is sent via SMS text messages. There is also "Vishing," which is similar to phishing but uses the features of Voice over IP (VoIP) phones to steal personal and financial information.
