"Netflix Account Activation Request April 2017" Phishing Scam

Online users are advised to delete email messages like the one below with the subject "Netflix Account Activation request April 2017." This is because the email messages are phishing scams being sent by cyber criminals. The phishing scams trick potential victims into visiting fake websites disguised as legitimate ones. Once on the fake websites, potential victims will be asked to submit their personal and financial information, or ask to sign-in with their Netflix or other online account credentials (usernames and passwords). But, any attempt to do so will result in their information being sent to the cybercriminals behind the scam.

Once the cybercriminals have received their potential victims' information, they will use it to steal their money and/or gain access to their accounts and use them fraudulently.

Online users who have already been tricked by the same phishing scam, are asked to change their online account passwords and contact their banks for help if they had submitted their credit card or other financial information.
