"Settings for Hotmail" Microsoft Account Phishing Scams
Microsoft Hotmail users who have received email messages like the one below, which ask them to upgrade their accounts due to a recent security incident online or else their accounts will be closed, shut down or suspended, should delete the email messages. This is because Hotmail users do not need to upgrade or update their accounts because all of that is taken care of for them by the Microsoft Hotmail team. Microsoft Hotmail or Outlook is a Web-based email provider, this means that users do not need to do any forms of updates, upgrades or changes to their accounts because their accounts are in the cloud. This is why we ask Hotmail users to delete all email messages which claim they should upgrade or update their accounts.
