"Robert Moore FBI Reporting Department of Internal Revenue Service" Scam
Recipients of email messages like the one below, which claim that a Robert Moore from the FBI Tax Reporting Department of Internal Revenue Service will file a legal lawsuit against them, should delete the email messages. This is because the email messages are scams being sent to potential victims by cyber criminals. The cyber criminals frighten and trick their potential victims into responding to the email messages and sending them money, by threatening to issue an arrest warrant regarding some form of tax fraud.
But, the United States government will never send warrants or legal notices via email messages. They would be served in person by a U.S. Marshal or other law enforcement officer. Anyone receiving a fake arrest warrant should contact the FBI or the district U.S. Marshals Office. And, if there is any question regarding the authenticity of a warrant, contact your district clerk of court.
