The "Important Changes to Verizon.net Email" Phishing Scam
Cybercriminals are sending out fake "Important Changes to Verizon.net Email" emails to potential victims, in an attempt to trick them into clicking on malicious links in the same emails. The malicious links go to phishing websites that steal visitors' email or online account credentials, by tricking them into signing in.

Subject: Important Changes to Verizon.net Email
We have teamed up with AOL and YAHOO to add new updates and more exciting desktop experience while using your Verizon.net email on either AOL or YAHOO. With this new update, organizing and personalizing your inbox has never been easier with the new cozy inbox theme and email spam filtering to keep unwanted emails out of your inbox. Before we transition your Verizon.net email account to merge with the new updates, we need your authorization in order to make these changes and allow us add more important account updates.
This is required for all Verizon.net email users and we expect to recieve your authorization no later than November 25, 2018.
It's important to know that access to your email account may be restricted if we don't get your authorization after the said date.
Authorization is easy:
You will need access to an internet browser.
Go to E-Authorization Center and sign in to your account.
Authorization will begin automatically after sign in.
Note: It is very important to wait for about 1-2 minutes after sign in before closing the authorization page, all non Verizon.net email addresses will be rejected.
Each verizon.net email associated with your account will be treated separately. Each individual account will need to go through the authorization process seperately.
Verizon, AOL, and Yahoo users should always go directly to www.yahoo.com and www.verizon.net and sign into their accounts to view important updates or notifications. And, those who have already been tricked by the phishing email are asked to change their passwords before their accounts are hijacked and used fraudulently.
