"Microsoft Mailbox Backup Failed" Phishing Scam
The "Microsoft Mailbox Backup Failed" email below is a phishing scam. Therefore, Microsoft users (Hotmail, Outlook, Live)who have received such fake emails are asked not to follow the instructions in them. The fake emails should be deleted because they are being sent by cybercriminals to trick their potential victims into clicking on the link in it. The link goes to a phishing website that steals Microsoft account credentials.

Once the cybercriminals have received their potential victims' account credentials (username and password), they will use it to hijack their accounts and use them fraudulently.
Microsoft users who have been tricked by the phishing scam are asked to change their passwords immediately before their accounts are hijacked. For users whose accounts have already been hijacked, they may click here for instructions to regain access to their accounts.
