The so-called James Martins from Abidjan Ivory Coast in the email below is a scammer attempting to trick potential victims into sending him money, which he claims is to help him to transfer millions of dollars which is late father deposited at a security firm. Remember, once you are asked to send money in order to receive money, a lottery prize, or promotion, it is a scam. This is how scammers rob their potential victims, by promising them millions of dollars, gaining their trust and then tricking them into sending them money.

Hello Dear

My name is James Martins; I was born in Abidjan Ivory Coast in West Africa. I am a boy of 21 years old and never married before. I am presently living out side my country under Church refugee camp for safety of my life due to the civil war and crisis in my country Ivory Coast few years ago. My father of a blessed memory by name late Dr. Simon E. Martins who was the general manager of Martins Oil & Gas Company, before he was killed along with my mother and my only younger sister in a cold blood. Our family house was burnt down by the rebels during the war and I managed to survived due to I was schooling in Ghana then. I am writing this letter to you from where I am seeking asylum in the refugee camp here

Please I am writing this letter to you with tears asking for your kind assistance to help me claim this sum of US$8.5 million (Eight Million Five Hundred Thousand US Dollars) which my late father Dr. Simon E. Martins deposited with a Security Firm before his sudden death, which he used my name as next kin.

Honestly, I need your assistance to help me claim the money from the Security Firm and transfer the money to your country for investment purpose such as:
