Wish was founded in 2011 by former Google and Yahoo engineers and is an online retailer that features hundreds of different stores and millions of products from suppliers all over the world, mainly in China. They are basically a direct-to-consumer online retailer based out of San Francisco, California. So, if Wish.com is legitimate, why are so many people complaining about long shipping time, poor quality items, clothing size, receiving knockoffs and receiving little or no customer service?
Instead of making purchases through a retailer, merchants sell items directly from factories in China via Wish.com. This saves the merchant money because they do not need to maintain a physical store. The products can also be stored in warehouses owned by Wish and get shipped as soon as a customer places an order. This brings prices down by cutting out the middle man, who would otherwise get a significant cut. But, although you will save money this way, do not expect fast shipping, the best quality goods, and excellent customer service.
Although Wish is legit, that doesn’t mean that there aren't any knockoffs. Just use common sense—when you see a designer handbag selling for only $20, you should be skeptical.
In addition to the risks of knockoffs, you should know that some of the items you find on Wish are risky buys. Electronics might be poorly made or clothing might not fit right.
