YNAB Scam Email Sent By Cybercriminals
YNAB has received reports of online users receiving emails claiming to be from Apple claiming they have signed up for a one day trial and will be charged to use their app. After receiving the report, YNAB did some investigating and was able to confirm that the fake emails are not targeting YNAB users and their systems have not been compromised, and have determined that the emails are phishing attack using YNAB's name in an attempt to trick online users into visiting a fake and phishing Apple website.
Once on the fake Apple website, visitors will be asked to sign-in. But, if they attempt to do so, their Apple account credentials will be sent to the cybercriminals behind the scam, who will use the stolen credentials to gain unauthorized access to their potential victims' accounts, hijack the accounts and used them fraudulently. Therefore, online users who have already been tricked are asked to change their account password, check their App Store purchase history and report any discrepancies to Apple.
Online users who have received the YNAB fake and phishing emails are asked to send them to Apple at reportphishing@apple.com so they can take action.
