Kroger iTunes Cards Survey Scams Being Sent by Scammers
If you have received a check and asked to buy iTunes cards from Kroger, Walgreens and Target and you would receive $300 for you survey results, please do not cash the check. This is another scam created by scammers used to trick their potential victims into purchasing iTunes cards with a fake check and sending them the card information.
The scammers will take the card information and sell them in exchange for cash or redeem them in exchange for electronic items.
Now, the victims, on the other hand, will have to pay back the bank for the bounced check along with the incurred fees.
Never buy iTunes, Google Play, Steam, Kroger, Walgreens, BestBuy, Amazon, CVS, Rite Aid or ANY OTHER gift card for someone who demands payment. And, once someone asks you to buy cards and send the card information to them, stop and do your research first.
Remember, gift cards are for gifts, not payments. If you’ve bought a gift card and lost money to someone who might be a scammer, tell the company who issued the card. (The contact info might be on the card, but might require some research) Call or email iTunes or Amazon or whoever it was. Tell them their card was used in a scam. If you act quickly enough, they might be able to get your money back.
But, either way, it’s important that they know what happened to you. And then please tell the FTC about your loss. Your report helps us try to shut the scammers down.
