The "Mr. Lambert Costa Fund Transfer" Advance Fee Scam

The fake "Mr. Lambert Costa Fund Transfer" email below is an advance-fee scam being sent by online criminals. This scam is a form of fraud and one of the most common types of confidence trick. The scam typically involves promising the victim a significant share of a large sum of money, in return for a small up-front payment, which the fraudster requires in order to obtain the large sum.

I wish to tell you that I am successfully residing in Japan where i want to re-establish myself. I am using the opportunity to thank you who made intentions to help me, although we couldn't finished up, and to you personally, I have written and dropped a cheque of $850,000 USD for your compensation for all you have done and intentions to assist me then.

This is my pure appreciation to you and I have instructed a friend in Jakarta Indonesia to send you the cheque and a letter attached to it.
