"Your Facebook Account Will be Disabled if You Fail to Confirm Your Identity Today" Phishing Scam

Facebook users who have received fake messages like the one below, which claims their Facebook accounts must be confirmed in order to avoid disabling them is a phishing scam. The phishing messages are being sent by cybercriminals to steal Facebook usernames and passwords by taking Facebook users to a fake Facebook website where they will be asked sign-in. But, any attempt to sign into the fake website will result in their Facebook account usernames and passwords being sent to the cybercriminals. Once the cybercriminals have gotten their potential victims' account credentials, they will hijack their accounts and use them fraudulently.

This why Facebook users should never click on a link to sign into their accounts. They should instead, go directly to www.facebook.com or use Facebook's app to check their accounts for important notifications or updates if there are any.

Facebook users who have been tricked by the message are asked to change their passwords immediately.
