"Huntington Bank" Phishing Emails Being Sent by Cyberthievies
Huntington Bank's customers who have received fake emails like one the below, which claim someone tried to log in to their account and as a result of this, their accounts have been locked, are asked not to click on the links in the email message. This is because the fake emails are being sent by cyberthieves who are attempting to trick recipients into clicking on the links in the emails which go to fake or phishing Huntington Bank website that steal account credentials.
On the fake Huntington Bank website, visitors will be asked to sign-in, but if they attempt to do so, their account credentials will be sent to the cybercriminals behind the scam.
In order to protect themselves against phishing scams, Huntington Bank customers should always go directly to https://www.huntington.com/ and sign into their accounts from there, instead of clicking on a link in an email message.
