Amazon PS5 Scam - Swapped or Stolen PlayStation

Hundreds, or maybe thousands of online UK online shoppers who pre-ordered their PS5 on Amazon claim they have  been ripped off. The online shoppers claim they have received air fryers, cat food, toilet rolls, kitchen appliances and foot massagers, instead of the PS5 they ordered.

Here are some of the messages posted by online shoppers who claimed they were scammed:

"Delivery was fake ‘missed’ at midday with a ‘we couldn’t deliver’ message (with no attempt at delivery made). Now looks like it was siphoned off then before reappearing this evening, replaced with an air fryer inside. @amazonUK @amazon can you please comment on this #PS5 scam?"

"So, @AmazonUK looks like someone has stolen my (day late) PS5. Right outer box, wrong item. Where can I get help? @AmazonHelp @PlayStationUK"

When contacted, Amazon's response was:

"We're sorry to hear you received the incorrect item in your order. This isn't the experience we want for our customers. You can view your refund/replacement options here: https://t.co/MpeDJyUszm. Please let us know if you need any help. We're here for you!"

Some online users claim some drivers and warehouse employees are doing this to keep the PS5 for themselves. They claim, the drivers and employees are taking advantage of Amazon's easy returns and refund policy, which makes it simple to just give a refund and say sorry your item is currently out of stock.
