NCB How to Protect Yourself Online and Identify a Legitimate Email
NCB Jamaica wants to help you to be vigilant with the use of technology especially phishing emails (similar to the example below) which are fraudulent email messages aiming to lure individuals into providing sensitive data such as personal information, banking, and credit card details.
A NCB (National Commercial Bank) Email Scam
Here are some reminders to help you protect yourself online and know how to identify a legitimate email sent by NCB (National Commercial Bank):
- NCB will never ask you for your personal information like your PIN, the 3-digit security code at the back of your credit card or credit card access codes via email or phone. If you receive an email or a phone call requesting this information, please delete the email and ignore the call.
- Beware of urgent or threatening language in the subject line. Subject lines such as “Account has been suspended” or your account had an “Unauthorized login attempt” are common phishing emails.
- Pay attention to the grammar and spelling in the emails you receive, especially if the email doesn’t address you by name.
