If you have received fake WhatsApp Dark Mode posts like the one below with a link that claims you can now turn your WhatsApp in dark mode for the first time, please do not follow the instructions in them. This is because the posts are scams. The links in the fake posts go to fake and phishing WhatsApp websites, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store. The phishing websites will steal personal information and account credentials. And, the fake App Store websites will trick mobile device users into installing malicious apps that can spy on them and steal their personal information and account credentials.

The fake website asks WhatsApp users to share the post in order to activate the WhatsApp Dark Mode. But, doing so will not activate the Dark Mode, it will only spread the fake and phishing WhatsApp websites to other users. To enable WhatsApp Dark Mode, please see the instructions below. Remember, you will never need to share a post in order to enable Dark Mode, therefore, if you are asked to do so, it is a scam.

How to Enable WhatsApp Dark Mode
- Open WhatsApp, then tap More options Settings Chats Theme.
- Select from the following options:
- Dark: Turn dark mode on.
- Light: Turn dark mode off.
- System default: Enable WhatsApp dark mode to match your device settings. Go to device Settings Display turn Dark theme on or off.
