The Venmo customer service scam text below, which claims recipients attached their checking accounts to Venmo for a transaction, is being sent by scammers. The aim of the fake text is to trick potential victims into calling telephone number 18443357163, which is a fake Venmo technical support number.
The Venmo Customer Service Scam Text
"Dear User. You recently attached your checking account to Venmo for a transaction of $720. Call Venmo Customer Support 18443357163 if NOT initiated by you."
If potential victims call the fake Venmo Customer Service telephone number, they will contact the scammers behind fake text message, who will attempt to trick them into disclosing their account credentials, personal and financial information.
