Virgin Media Email Phishing Scam - "Verify Your Account"

The email message below: "Verify your account," is a phishing scam and was not sent by Virgin Media. The spoofed email message that was sent by cyber-criminals, contains a link to a fake or phishing Virgin Media website that will ask you to sign into your Virgin Media account, update your personal information, credit card information, and other financial information, but once the information is entered on the fake website, it will be sent to the scammers behind it. And, that is what the scammers need in order to rip you off.

Subject: Verify your account

Your Mailbox version is outdated, Our Record Indicates your Mailbox is not updated. According to Provision 17.9 of Terms and Conditions. Your Mailbox may at anytime terminate its services for accounts.

To accept our new terms and conditions UPDATE NOW http://ow .ly/ViHOu

Remember, although the email message may appeared as if it came from a Virgin Media email address, it was not. This email address was spoofed, meaning it was not sent from a Virgin Media email address, but from some other email account by cyber-criminals.

If you have already clicked on the link in the fake email message and have entered your information on the fake or phishing Virgin Media website, please try changing your Virgin Media password and contacting them. Also contact your bankif you have entered your credit card information on the fake and phishing website. Let your bank know that you have unknowingly entered your credit card information on a phishing website.
