"Bank of America Ticket Opened - Closed Account" Phishing Scam

Bank of America customers are advised to delete e-mail messages like the one below, which claim their accounts have been closed, and they need to click on a link in the same e-mail messages to reactivate their accounts. They are also asked not to follow the instructions in the same e-mail messages. This is because the e-mail messages are phishing scams sent by cybercriminals to steal Bank of America customers’ online account credentials.

Bank of America customers should never click on a link to sign into their accounts, they should instead, go directly to www.bankofamerica.com and sign-in from there. And, if there is someone wrong with their accounts or they need to update their account information, they will be notified. Bank of America customers who have already been tricked by the phishing email (see below), are asked to change their passwords and contact Bank of American (BOA) immediately.
