Today I received an e-mail from search@yahoo-email.com with the subject "Help Improve Yahoo Axis for a Chance to win $500". The e-mail message states that I was choosen to take part in a survey to help improve Yahoo Axis. I was skeptical at first because I have never received an e-mail message from yahoo-email.com and though it was setup by scammers to carry out their malicious activites.

We use @yahoo-email.com as one of the main addresses to manage emails that we send to you. We already use @yahoo.com email addresses for our users' personal Yahoo! Mail accounts so we prefer to use a separate address. That way, it is easy for everybody to tell the difference between users' personal emails and email from Yahoo! itself.Click here for more information.

The domain name yahoo-email.com is actually owned by Yahoo! and is use for sending out newsletters.

If you receive any email asking you to update your account, please ignore those emails. Although the email appears to be sent from yahoo-email.com, it is possible scammers may have spoofed this email address.Yahoo will notify you of any changes to your account after you have signed into it.
In fact, right now, I am been asked to upgrade my yahoo mail so i want to know if its from yahoo or not.

I have received an email from yahoo@service.yahoo-email.com requesting me to update my security parameters within 10 days. Could you kindly confirm if this is a valid and authorised yahoo address and if this request is authentic? Thanks
i will throw away such emails to be on th save side. I am not interested in getting drive by viruses.In my case the email talked about actualizing settings and it leads not to yahoo.de but to email-yahoo.de, so i had to login with my yahoo id and password, i never would do such a thing.
It seems that cybercriminals are sending these spam emails to you and spoofing the email address, to make it appear as if it came from yahoo-email.com. With Yahoo.com, anyone can create a free email account and sent spam from it, but the account will be terminated as soon as Yahoo finds out about it. Yahoo is self destructing with this spam.
I've been getting a lot of spam from a yahoo-email.com address for at least a month. The links on the spam are all to yahoo.com or yahoo-email.com addresses. I've tried to unsubcribe (at the yahoo-email.com link provided), but I'm still spammed. It looks like Yahoo is self destructing.
Realistically, anyone can send an email and make it appear as though it came from any address.It's more useful to look at the links in the email, to see where they link back to. It's harder to hijack a legitimate web server pointed to by a domain name than it is to send impersonated email.
An e-mail address cannot be registered with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), only a domain name. The email address search@yahoo-email.com cannot be registered by anyone. Once you register a domain name, only the owner of that domain name can create e-mail addresses for it. So, only Yahoo! can create the e-mail address search@yahoo-email.com.
I think that while yahoo-email.com may be a legitimate domain, people can somehow register for things like search@yahoo-email.com and similar that have actually nothing to do with yahoo...
