There is a virus called Zeus which is responsible for posting the scam on to your Facebook Wall or Timeline.  It may also post a link to itself in order to infect other computers.

If you install the malicious Facebook application posted by Zeus, you will be asked to enter your debit card number, expiration date, security code and PIN. If this information is entered, it will be sent to the scammers.

Tips to avoid Facebook Scams:

  • Do not install an application that you do not know anything about. Ask friends or family about an application or research it on the internet first.
  • Remove applications that you have installed accidentally or no longer using.
