WhatsApp "You Have a New Voicemail" Malware

Cyber criminals are using fake WhatsApp email messages in an attempt to infect the recipients' computers with malware. One of the popular malware is called Kuluoz.B. These bogus email messages claim that the recipient has received a new voicemail and he/she should click the "Play" to retrieve the message.

This email message was not sent from WhatsApp.

If the "Play" is clicked in this email message, the user will be redirected to a malicious website and asked to download some malicious applications. On this same website, the user may also be tricked into downloading other malicious applications that are disguised as web browsers (Browser 6.5), antivirus and critical application updates.

If you receive any email message appearing as if it came from WhatsApp, please DO NOT click on the links in it, instead, go directly to your WhatsApp application on your mobile device and view the message or any other forms of notification from there.

Email messages are the simplest way to infect a computer or a mobile device. That is why cybercriminals continue to use this method to infect computers and mobile devices.

So, if you receive an email message, caution should be taken before clicking on any links or attachments within it.
