"Sextortion" Scams - Women Secretly Recording Their Victims and Extorting Money From Them

Online predators or scammers are extorting money from their potential victims via online video chat. The victims are mostly males, who are seduced by online female scammers into undressing in front of their webcams or cameras, while they(scammers) secretly record the video chat. Once the scammers have recorded enough of their undressed victims, they will demand that the victims send money via Western Union, or else they will post the video of them undressed on popular video sharing websites like YouTube for the world to see. This type of criminal activity is referred to as "Sextortion."

The scammers or online predators usually target users of Facebook, Skype and other popular social networking websites and video conferencing or chat applications. Remember, video conferencing or chats can be recorded, so you have to be careful of what you do in front of your webcam or camera. Because, once there is a video recording of you, it can easily and quickly be uploaded to a video sharing website where it can be viewed by billions.

And, once the video is online or on the internet, it will stay there, maybe forever. This is because someone will always have a copy of it and will continue to upload it, regardless of how many times it is taken down by the authorities or the companies who were hosting it.
