Phishing Scam - Unlock Your Sky Mail - You Have Reached Storage Limit

The email message below: "Unlock Your Sky Mail," is a phishing scam. The email message was not sent by Sky Mail. It was instead sent by cyber-criminals who are attempting to trick the recipients into clicking on the link within it, which will take them to a fake Sky Mail website. If the potential victims enter their email addresses, user names and passwords on the fake website, it will be sent to the cyber-criminals behind it, who will use the information to hijack their Sky Mail accounts.

The Fake/Phishing Sky Mail Message

From: SKY! [mailto:richarb4@miamioh .edu]
To: undisclosed-recipients:
Subject: Unlock Your Sky Mail

Dear User,

You have reached storage limit. You can not send or receive new messages until you re-validate your mail.

To re-validate the mailbox VALIDATE HERE

Thank you

SKY! System Administrator

The link in the fake email message goes to the following compromised website and webpage:
http://thecleaneatingfreak.com/ski/mail1134-1662- 10787-0%20833-14345= 349049881.php

The fake webpage will ask the recipients who have clicked on the link for their email address, user name and password, claiming the information is needed to revalidate their email accounts. But, once the information is entered, it will be sent to the cyber-criminals behind the fake Sky Mail web page and email message, who will use it to hijack the email accounts and use them fraudulently.

If you were tricked into entering your SKY Mail credentials on the fake website, please change your Sky Mail password immediately.

Just received this mail in my inbox and somehow it didn't feel right! Checked it thro' Google and I was right! Phishing scammers. Now deleting it and emptying my trash. Thanks for your article on it.
