DO NOT Set your iPhone, iPad or other Apple Devices' Clock or Date to January 1, 1970
Currently, setting some iPhones, iPads or other Apple devices’ clock or date to January 1, 1970, will make them unusable. And, attempting to restore them through iTunes won’t help. The devices will have to be physical fixed by taking them to an Apple store, or possibly replaced. Only Apple devices running the 64-bit version of iOS, which includes iPhone 5S, iPad Mini 2, iPad Air, and newer versions, are affected by the bug. Apple has officially acknowledged the iOS bug, and says that an upcoming software update will correct the problem.
Soon after the bug was discovered, heartless tricksters started posting hoaxes or fake messages similar to the one below, asking Apple users to set the clock or date on their iPhones to January 1, 1970, in order to find an “Easter egg” that will place a retro Apple Macintosh theme on their devices. But, there is no such theme and following instructions in the hoax will only make their Apple devices unusable, if the devices they are using are affected by the iOS bug.

Change the date on your iPhone to January 1, 1970, press and hold the power button to reboot your device, and prepare for a wild ride!”
The hoax above shows how wicked some persons are, and how those wicked persons want to help make other people’s lives miserable. Imagine the time, effort and money it will cost someone who followed the hoax, thinking it is true. That is why it is important to remember, that not everything you read on the internet is true. And, online users should always research things posted on the internet first, before following any instruction or carrying out any task.
Remember, if you are asked to set the date on any of your Apple device to January 1, 1970, or a date in the past, please don’t!
