The fake or phishing email message was NOT sent by Bank Of Montreal, but by cybercriminals, who are attempting to trick their potential victims into sending them their BOM accounts' user names and passwords. Therefore, recipients of the fraudulent email message should delete it and not follow the instructions into it.

Recipients of the fake or phishing email message who were tricked by the phishing email message should check their BOM accounts for any discrepancy, and change their BOM account's password immediately before it is hijacked and used fraudulently by cybercriminals.
Also, to protect against phishing scams, it is recommended that BMO customers go directly to https://www.bmo.com/, instead of clicking on a link in an email message, to sign into their accounts.
