WhatsApp users who have received the messages below, which claim WhatsApp Version 4.0 has been released and they can install it with invites only, should delete them and others like them, and should not follow the instructions in them. Currently, there is no Whatsapp Version 4.0 and the messages were NOT sent by WhatsApp, but by cybercriminals, who are attempting to trick WhatsApp users into visiting survey, phishing and malicious websites, created to steal their information and infect their mobile devices with viruses and malware.

    Thank you for the information, why cant Whatsapp send messages to its users alerting them of this scam. I had followed the instructions but when I was in the middle of the process I discovered that it is a scam, when they were talking about winning an IPhone.

      Uninstall any application that you were instructed to download, and change your WhatsApp password.
