They may claim to be from other companies. When I got the call that purported to be from Virgin, I called the number on the back of my Virgin card and they confirmed that this is not their number and that it was a scam. So, I am warning others to be aware of these calls and should not call 08001217365. It seems to be operated by scammers who want you to contact them so they can trick you into disclosing account credentials, personal and financial information. Worryingly, the text included the last 4 digits of my account number. When I called Virgin Money using this number: 00 44 141 951 7315, the girl seemed to think that Virgin had sent the text as I'd authorised a couple of payments earlier in the day. She was unable to verify or too disinterested in the 0800 number on the text. I was not at all convinced.
