The fake Royalpay-Postag text below, which claims there is a parcel awaiting delivery with a link to royalpay-postage is another Royal Mail scam. The scam claims the recipients need to pay a £2.99 settlement to avoid your parcel being returned to sender, but this is not true. The scammers behind the fake text hope recipients will click the link in it, which goes to the fake and phishing Royal Mail website royalpay-postage.

On the fake Royal Mail website, visitors will be asked for personal and financial information in order to pay the £2.99 fee . But, if the requested information is submitted, it will be stolen by the scammers and use fraudulently.

I regard myself as pretty wise to these sort of scams, but I was expecting a small parcel from overseas, which was overdue, and my automatic reaction to the text was that this was a customs clearance/handling charge, which I have had to pay in the past, as the timing was right. If you are waiting an overseas delivery, Royal Mail will usually put card through your door advising that there is an HMRC payment due.
Royal Mail will not charge you for a redelivery. You will only pay a small fee if you opt to collect your item from a Post Office counter and you will pay them on collection of your item.
